30th  May, 2006:   MAGNET organizes Badminton Tournament
The Badminton tournament organized was a great success. Siddhartha Pathak wins the Singles title. Adarsh Sagar and Srinivas K. win the Doubles title.
28th  December, 2005:   Magnets wins EGA Soccer Tournament
Congratulations to the MAGNET Soccer Team for winning the EGA Soccer Tournament on 28th October 2005. Team MAGNET emerged victorious among all other engineering departments in Drexel. Special thanks to all the people who played for the team and made this happen . Also thanks to everyone in the department for supporting and encouraging the effort.

The image from 'Anisotropic Etching of SiC Whiskers', authored by Z.G.Cambaz, G.Yushin, Y.Gogotsi, V.Lutsenko, Nanoletters will be featured on the cover page of Nano Letters, March issue (2006).
9th  September, 2005:   Varun Gupta receieved Best Poster Award at 20th Annual Technical Conference of American Society for Composites
Varun Gupta won 1st Prize for his poster titled 'Thermally Sprayed Multi-Scale Polymer/Ceramic Composite Coatings' at American Society for Composites, 20th Annual Technical Conference, September 7-9, 2005 held in Philadelphia. The poster was co-authored by Milan Ivosevic, Richard A. Craincross, Thomas E. Twardowski and Richard Knight.
31st  August, 2005:   MAGNET recieved $1800 from GSA, 70% higher than previous year
GSA (Graduate Student Association) of Drexel allocated $1800 as funds for MAGNET for this academic year. This is an increase of about 70% compared to that of last year budget allocation. 9th  August, 2005:   Goknur Cambaz received Honorable Mention in Class 3 of the International Metallographic Contest
Goknur Cambaz received Honorable Mention in Class 3 of the International Metallographic Contest held recently in Honolulu. The titles of the poster was "Novel Approach to SiC Nanoarchitecture" and was co-authored by Dr. Gleb Yushin, Dr. Yury Gogotsi, and V.G. Lutsenko.
8th  August, 2005:   Kishore Tenneti received Outstanding Graduate Student Award
Kishore Kumar Tenneti received Outstanding Graduate Student Award from Dr. Surya Kalidindi for his contribution to the Departement of Materials Science and Engineering.
29th  July, 2005:   John Chmiola's appeared in Interface
John Chmiola's photograph appeared with the President of the Electrochemical Society in the Summer 2005 issue of Interface. John was featured as the recipient of the Best Student Poster Award at the ECS Spring meeting in Quebec City, Canada, for his paper "Pore Structure Engineering for Electrochemical Applications".
16th  June, 2005:   Ranjan and Liz excelled at NAMS 2005
Ranjan Dash and Elizabeth Hoffman received travel grant for attending the North American Membrane Society meeting in Providence, RI. They both were awarded $500 travel grants from the conference organizers. Ranjan also received the Poster Award for his poster titled "Carbide Derived Carbon with Tunable Porosity". Gleb Yushin and Yury Gogotsi were co-authors of this poster.
14th  June, 2005:   Tom received Best Thesis Award
Tom Juliano, alumni of MAGNET, received a newly established Best Thesis Award from Drexel University for his PhD thesis. This award was established this year and is accompanied by a check.
17th  June, May:   John won Best Poster award
John Chmiola won the Best Poster award at the Electrochemical Society Meeting in Quebec. His poster titled "Pore Structure Engineering in Carbons for Electrochemical Applications" Ranjan K. Dash, Gleb Yushin and Yury Gogotsi were co-authors of this poster.
