Welcome!!!

We would like to welcome you to the MRS chapter at Drexel University. We have been members of this society for about a decade and recognize that it has always been the most useful professional organization for us (we are currently members of four other professional societies), first and foremost because of its excellent conferences and publications. Unlike other materials societies, it is dedicated to RESEARCH. The number of people attending the annual fall meeting in Boston in 2003 has tripled that of 1986, signifying tremendous growth. It is also different from that of single discipline professional societies such as APS or ACS, because it encourages communication and technical information exchange across the various fields of science affecting materials. In today’s materials research environment, the need for multidisciplinary interactions has greatly increased. Multidisciplinary research emphasis will undoubtedly broaden your horizon and accelerate your growth in the materials field. As a member of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS), MRS also gives you access to numerous international networking opportunities. University Chapters are eligible for special benefits from MRS (e.g., travel grants, distinguished lecturers, funding for special projects, etc.). Thus, MRS student membership is an excellent investment of your time and 25 dollars. We look forward to see the Drexel chapter grow to become one of the best among more than 30 University Chapters in the country.
