GAANN Programs

Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) provides fellowships to assist graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue the highest degree available in their course study in a field designated as an area of national need. GAANN grants are funded by the Department of Education.

Materials GAANN Grants at Drexel


Drexel Research and Education in Advanced Materials (DREAM) provides need-based graduate fellowships to Ph.D. students in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in five exciting research areas: nanomaterials, biomaterials, design of materials, particulate processing, and electronic and photonic materials.


Computational Materials Science and Engineering (CMSE) provides need-based fellowships to Ph.D. students at Drexel University who will receive exceptional training in research and education in the field of computational materials science and engineering in the critical areas of novel materials and nanotechnology; defense applications; manufacturing, design, and optimization; digital signal processing in materials characterization; and bioengineering and bioinformatics.
