Jessica Wolever

What is your name? Jessica Wolever
What school are you currently attending? Ohio State University
What year will you be starting in the fall? I will be entering my third year.
Why did you choose to attend the SENSORS program? I wanted to get experience in my field (Materials Science). I also wanted to gain a better understanding of what research entails to help me better decide whether or not to go on to graduate school. Spending the summer in a new city seemed like a pretty good deal too.
Who are you working with, and what research are you doing? I am in Dr. Schauer’s lab with Matthew Cathell and Jessica Schiffman. We have been working with the natural polymer, chitosan, making thin films for metal ion detection and electrospinning nanofibers from chitosan solutions. We have also been doing some experimentation with quantum dots and chitosan.
What are your goals/aspirations for the future? Ultimately, I plan to work in industry in a field relating materials science and sports medicine.
