Mike Kopek

What is your name? Mike Kopek
What school are you currently attending? Ohio State University
What year will you be starting in the fall? Senior (fourth year), but I expect to graduate after six years (two additional years) because I changed my major from “Chemistry” to “Chemical Engineering”
Why did you choose to attend the SENSORS program? I chose to participate in the SENSORS program because I want to do undergraduate research. Since I am very busy with classes, clubs, etc., during the academic year, I feel that summer is an excellent time to engage in undergraduate research. Also, I plan to major in Chemical Engineering, and I may pursue graduate studies. I, therefore, very desperately wanted to participate in an undergraduate research program. SENSORS seemed to "fit the bill" as it is a science-related summer research program for undergraduates.
Who are you working with, and what research are you doing? My faculty advisor is Dr. Moses Noh, and I am working closely with a graduate student named Robert Hart. I am researching the phenomena alternating current (AC electroosmosis and dielectrophoresis.
What are your goals/aspirations for the future? I may go to graduate school. After graduate school, I hope to find work as a chemical engineer. I plan to be very conscientious and thorough in my work.
