Timothy Holifield

What school are you currently attending? Stetson University
What year will you be starting in the fall? Junior
Why did you choose to attend the SENSORS program? I chose SENSORS for the opportunity to perform research related to my physics degree in a city I had never visited before.
Who are you working with, and what research are you doing? Dr. Fontecchio is my faculty adviser, and Dave Delaine is my graduate mentor. We are working on optimizing solar radiometers to increase their force output, with the goal of adapting them as energy scavenging, sensor, or other actuating devices. We successfully developed a prototype actuating switch as a proof-of concept of the use of forces in a vacuum system.
What are your goals/aspirations for the future? I intend to go to graduate school and pursue a Ph.D., probably in Applied Physics or Applied Math.
