DREAM Alumni Happenings
- Rose Faghih (Montgomery College) is pursuing her M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at MIT. Rose was studying at a community college when she was in the DREAM program. The DREAM program alerted Rose to graduate fellowship opportunities. “I…learned about the NSF fellowship in one of the DREAM workshop[s]. Then, in my senior year, I applied for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and was awarded the NSF Graduate Fellowship.”
- Jeremy Baldoni (Duke) is pursuing his J.D. at the University of Michigan.
- Katherine Doyle (McGill) is a mechanical engineer for the US Army in the Armament Research Development and Engineering Command of the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. The skills she learned in DREAM directly contributed to her getting the job. “Being a part of DREAM…was really helpful to me and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. Visiting the ARL in Aberdeen was a great experience and definitely a factor in steering me towards civilian work for the military.”
- Garrett Goon (U. of Maryland) is pursuing his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania.
- Dewi Harjanto (Olin College) is pursuing her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Dewi applied to the NSF GRFP and received Honorable Mention.
- Lauren Jackson (North Carolina State University) is pursuing her Ph.D. in Materials Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
- Ben Pelleg (Cornell University) is pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Drexel University.
- Melissa Schillo (OSU) is pursuing her Ph.D. at OSU as an IGERT Fellow, and is a co-author on a patent application from Drexel University [REU-9].
- Jenell Smith (Bucknell) is pursuing her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University.
- Maxim Rapoport (University of Pennsylvania) is working as an attorney and specifically cited the presentation on patent law as part of the DREAM program to be one of the factors that influenced his decision to go to graduate school in this area.
- William Woodford (Penn State) is pursuing his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at MIT.
