Dream : DREAM Fellows : 2008 Fellows : Allegra Cooper
Allegra B. Cooper
Interview
Q: What school are you currently attending?
A: Delaware State University
Q: What year will you be starting in the fall?
A: Junior Year
Q: Why did you choose to attend the DREAM program?
A: I was interested in seeing what research was like at another school. I didn’t know what an REU was and my advisors felt like it would be a great experience to go somewhere different and try something new.
Q: Who are you working with, and what research are you doing?
A: I am working with Dr. Kalidindi, Stephen Niezgoda, and Joshua Shaffer on applications of analyzing microstructure data. I took a digitally created composite noisy microstructure, used the application of the phase coded generalized Hough transform for automatic circle detection to detect the circles. And then produced a reconstructed segmented microstructure, which was implemented in Matlab.
Q: What are your goals/aspirations for the future?
A: I plan on going to graduate school and hopefully becoming successful in a large company doing something on the lines of data analysis.
