The safety and well-being of everyone - students, staff, faculty, visiting researchers, and guests - working in the laboratories in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering is of paramount importance.  Please read through the useful information relating to lab safety, including Drexel policies, forms, relevant departmental safety information, and more.

Drexel University's Department of Environmental Health & Safety addresses lab safety, fire and life safety, bio safety and waste disposal, as well as links for use in specific emergencies such as spills, fire, flood, indoor air quality, injuries, etc.  Their web site also contains links for service request forms, FAQs, etc.

Drexel University's Department of Environmental Health & Safety conducts quarterly inspections of all labs within the Department, and written reports of any safety violations, together with suggestions and recommendations for corrective actions, are sent to the faculty member responsible for the lab and to the Dept. Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO). The CHO also conducts periodic lab walk-throughs to review safety and general housekeeping concerns, in response to reports of violations, or to provide guidance and advice on safety issues.
