Undergraduate Academic Curriculum

Our undergraduate program is a 5-year program consisting of 3 distinct major components:

Drexel Engineering Core Curriculum

The innovative award winning introductory curriculum to engineering covers the first two years of the program and is common for all engineering students.

The Core MATE Curriculum

This part of the program runs in parallel with the co-op program for the third and fourth year, and runs all 3 quarters of the senior year. There are three options:

• Official MatE Course Descriptions
• Required Course List
• Recommended Plan of Study (5-year BS)
• Combined BS/MS Program (5 year accelerated program)
• Combined BS/PhD Program (6 year accelerated program)

Two more options are available for students pursuing other majors who would like to expand their degree to include Materials Science and Engineering:

• Double Major (including Materials Engineering)
• Minor in Materials Engineering

The COOP Program

Every undergraduate spends three 6-month periods in industry, and gains valiable experience that leads to improved learning and enhanced professional development. Visit the SCDC website to find out more.
