At the ASM International dinner and poster contest on Thursday, April 10th, Drexel's Department of Materials Science and Engineering had a very good showing. 19 Materials graduate students submitted a total of 20 posters for the contest. Of those 20 posters, 3 took the top slots. Saif El Din Khalil won 1st place ($500) for his poster entitled, Development of Smart Textiles with Embedded Fiber Optic Chemical Sensors. There was a tie for 2nd place ($250 each) between Hoa Lam for her poster on the Development of Gradient Design Composite Armor and Tom Juliano for his poster entitled, Boron Carbide for Armor Applications: Indentation, Raman, and TEM Studies.
