Another image of the work of Dr. Michel Barsoum, Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and one of his students is featured on the back cover of the August 2004 issue of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society. The image, taken by Ph.D. student Elizabeth Hoffman, helps to explain how and why metal In whiskers grow with time - like human hair from the bottom up - out of the grain boundaries of Zr2InC. This micrograph was submitted to the 2004 Annual Meeting Ceramographic Exhibit. Congratulations to Dr. Barsoum on this fourth image to appear on the Journal of the American Ceramic Society in 2004!
