Departmental Students are Acknowledged for Achievements at Honors Day

The Department of Materials Science & Engineering's high achieving students were recognized for their achievements at the annual College of Engineering Honors Day on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 5 PM. Honors Day is held every year by the College of Engineering to recognize academic achievement by the College's top students. Following is a listing of award winners and honorees:

Graduate Student Research Award

For outstanding research in the area of "Mechanical Behavior and Properties of Powder Compacts with Emphasis on Pharmaceutical Solid Dosages"

Graduate Student Research Award

For outstanding research in the area of "In-situ Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of Mixed Ionic Electronic Conducting Perovskites for SOFCs"

Arnold H. Kaplan Scholarship

Established by Arnold H. Kaplan, Class of '62, and his wife Deanne, in recognition of students who have exhibited outstanding scholastic achievement and possess excellent academic credentials

George Hill, Jr. Endowed Fellowship

Awarded to qualified candidates for the Ph.D. Program in an interdisciplinary program or research area in the College of Engineering. Recipients shall have demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate and graduate careers and the potential to achieve academic excellence at the Ph.D. Level.

National Science Foundation Fellowship

Awarded from a highly competitive pool of graduate students from U.S. Universities to fund a students working towards her/his research-based masters of doctoral degree

- María Pía Rossi

National Science Foundation Intergrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship Program (IGERT) Fellowships

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, these fellowships are available to Ph.D. Students completing a degree in the field of nanotechnology.
