Elizabeth Hoffman Receives Sapphire ACerS GEMS Award

Ph.D. student Elizabeth Hoffman (advisor: Michel Barsoum) is a sapphire award winner of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) Basic Science Graduate Excellence in Materials Science (GEMS) Awards. As a finalist for the award, Hoffman presented a talk entitled, "Driving Force and Mechanism for Spontaneous Metal Whisker Formation" at the ACerS annual meeting, April 10th-13th in Baltimore, MD. She will receive a certificate and a check from the American Ceramic Society.
