Dr. Yury Gogotsi co-organized a symposium entitled, Carbon Nanotubes and Nanowires: Devices and Applications at the 207th Electrochemical Society (ECS) meeting in Quebec City, May 16-18, 2005. Additionally, his Ph.D. student, John Chmiola, presented a poster and a paper entitled, Double Layer Capacitance of Carbon Nanotubes and Carbide-Derived Carbons, co-authored by Ph.D. student Ranjan Dash, research assistant professor Dr. Gleb Yushin, and Dr. Jack Fischer from the University of Pennsylvania. His poster, entitled "Pore Structure Engineering in Carbons for Electrochemical Applications" and co-authored by Dash, Yushin, and Gogotsi, received the Best Poster Award in the student poster competition out of 70 posters presented. This is the second time Gogotsi group has participated in the ECS student poster competition and the second time the group has won Best Poster.
