The process of collaboration between the NSF-sponsored Research Experience for Undergraduates Site DREAM: Drexel Research Experience in Advanced Materials and the Drexel University library has been presented and published in several conferences and proceedings.

Drexel University, the University of Maryland, and their Libraries’ Experiences Collaborating with Various Research Programs by Drexel University librarian Jay Bhatt, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Director of Outreach Joanne Ferroni, University of Maryland librarian Robert Kackley, and Department of Materials Science and Engineering Program Coordinator of Research and Publications Dorilona Rose, was presented at the IATUL Annual Conference in May 2005 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, as well as at the 2005 ASEE annual conference in Portland, Oregon in June 2005. This work was also published in both the ASEE and IATUL Proceedings and is now available on E-LIS.

The report on this presentation at the IATUL conference was also published in the September/October 2005 issue of the journal Library Hi-Tech News and in the May 2005 (Volume 11, Number 1) issue of New Review of Information and Library Research, a biannual, peer-reviewed journal, which publishes articles on contemporary information research and how it is shaping present and future information and library services. The journal can be found at: www.tandf.co.uk

It is envisioned that more collaborative opportunities among students, the librarians, and faculty mentors involved in the DREAM program will emerge. Through active dialogue with the librarians, students can enhance their information seeking skills required to succeed in the program. They will utilize library subscribed resources more efficiently and, in the process, plan and implement their projects more competently.
