Dee Breger, Director of Microscopy in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, will have a gallery-quality giclee print of one of her images of a penguin feather auctioned off as part of "Art IntersectScience: A Benefit Event Celebrating Art and Science." The auction will be held at Lucid Gallery in San Francisco, CA on November 10, 2005 with an online presence and is sponsored by GalaxyGoo, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing science literacy among students and the general public.
Additionally, Breger is auctioning off the opportunity to participate in a one-hour demo of Drexel University's scanning electron microscope (SEM), allowing simple hands-on operation of the SEM by the winner using a sample of their choice. The winner will also receive a digital file of one micrograph at the end of the demo session.
