Ph.D. student María Pía Rossi (advisor: Yury Gogotsi) has won the Graduate Student Technical Paper Competition sponsored by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at the National Technical and Career Conference. Rossi competed against students from all over the country and was one of 11 finalists selected to participate in the final presentation and paper at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. For her winning entry, entitled, "Using Carbon Nanopipes in Nanofluidic Devices for Cell Injection," Rossi received $1000 and a laptop computer. The event was sponsored by Chevron and Intel and the papers were judged by representatives of GlaxoSmithKline, IBM Corp., Chevron, and Intel.
