Ph.D. students Michael Birnkrant (advisor: Dr. Christopher Li), Matthew Cathell (advisor: Dr. Caroline Schauer), and Stephen Nonnenmann (advisor:  Dr. Jonathan Spanier) have been awarded prestigious NSF GK-12 Fellowships.  According to the Drexel GK-12 website the innovative GK-12 program brings together teams of Drexel University "engineering graduate students (GK-12 Fellows) and teachers from the School District of Philadelphia (GK-12 Teachers) to collaborate to identify and design engineering/technology based supportive classroom materials.  These materials will serve as contextual vehicles through which the presentation of fundamental scientific and mathematical concepts to middle school students will be enhanced."  The participants will engage in a special summer program to develop curriculum modules followed by implementation during the academic year.
