B.S./M.S. student Jennifer Vondran of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering has received a student paper award from the Delaware Valley Engineers Week Council for her paper titled, “Immobilization of Francisella tularensis in Contaminated Water Supplies: Biomicrobial Affinity Sensor for Bioterrorism Agent Detection.”
She will be presented with the award at an Engineers Week Banquet to be held on Saturday, February 24 at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. The banquet will recognize 2006 and 2007 Engineers of the Year, Outstanding Engineering Achievements, Young Engineer of the Year, Outstanding Math and Science Teachers, Undergraduate Student Papers, Outstanding High School Students, Future City Competition Winners, and Outstanding Service Awards.
Vondran was also mentioned on page 18 of the January-February issue of PE Magazine for her receipt of the George B. Hightower, P.E. fellowship. The National Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation and NSPE/PEC established the George B. Hightower, P.E., Memorial Fellowship Fund in 2005 to annually honor an outstanding engineering graduate student.
