Michael Sexton Receives Axel Madsen Award

Michael Sexton (advisor: Antonios Zavaliangos), materials science and engineering B.S./M.S. student, received the $1,200 Axel Madsen Award from the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology to travel to the 2007 International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials to be held in Denver, May 13-16, 2007.

Sexton was chosen for the award based on a letter he wrote explaining why he should receive the award. He also will prepare a technical poster, "In situ observation of fracture in diametrical compression of powder compactions by microtomography," and write a report on the proceedings of the conference to be published in the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy.
