Dr. Christopher Li, Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), handled by AT&T Government Solution, titled “Custom Synthesis of Periodically-Masked Carbon Nanotubes.” Dr. Li will serve as PI on the project and will be assisted by his graduate student Bing Li. The project will explore using periodically-masked carbon nanotubes for functional nanocomposites. This kind of research creates stronger, lighter and “smarter” composites that are needed for developing advanced air vehicles and space structures. The award is effective September 1, 2007 and expires March 1, 2008.
