Pathak and Knezevic Receive First Place in Business Plan Competition

MSE Ph.D. students Siddhartha Pathak and Marko Knezevic (advisor: Surya Kalidindi) have placed first in the second phase of the 2008 Business Plan Competition sponsored by the Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship for their plan entitled, "Microstructure Sensitive Design of Materials."  Additional team members include Wanting Hu and Zhen Cai of the LeBow College of Business.  The team will receive $1000.

In addition, they have been selected, along with five other teams, to participate in the Incubator Competition.  MSE B.S./Ph.D. student Jameson Detweiler and B.S. student Eric Eisele have also been selected to compete in the Incubator Competition with their proposal, "Summalux Technologies."

According to the Baiada Center, "these teams will compete for space in the Baiada Center’s incubator to start their businesses.  Designated office space combined with over $75,000 in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded to support these new companies. Presentations will be held at the 2008 Entrepreneur Conference – Entrepreneurial Leadership on June 4 at World Café Live."
