A paper by Ph.D. student Sebastian Osswald and others, "Increase of nanodiamond crystal size by selective oxidation," has been published in Diamond and Related Materials. The reported work demonstrates a simple method for increasing the crystal size of nanodiamond powder by selective oxidation in air. The authors conclude that a variety of characterization techniques, including high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, produce complementary results for better understanding of the properties of nanodiamond powder.
The paper was coauthored by former Post-doctoral Researcher Mickael Havel, Senior Research Associate Vadym Mochalin, former Research Assistant Professor Gleb Yushin, and Professor Yury Gogotsi.
