Y-Carbon, Inc., the company founded by Trustee Chair Professor Yury Gogotsi, Dr. Gleb Yushin (currently with Georgia Tech) and Dr. Ranjan Dash, has been awarded $149,938 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to continue developing nanotechnology for use in a variety of markets, including energy, water, and medicine.
This award was officially announced by U.S. Representative Patrick Murphy, and was noted in the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Fox 29 News.
Y-Carbon also appeared in the September 2009 edition of NanoMaterials Quarterly, PRWeb.com, AZoNano.com, and CIOL.com about SBIR funding received from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense to develop high energy supercapacitors.
Additionally, Gogotsi and Dash accepted an R&D 100 Award on behalf of Y-Carbon and Drexel University at the 47th Annual R&D Award Exhibition and Banquet, held on November 12, 2009.
