Dorilona Rose, Operations Manager in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, is the recipient of the 2009-2010 Harold M. Myers Distinguished Service Award. This is the most prestigious service award presented to a faculty or staff member of the Drexel community who has gone above and beyond their position in service to the university community.

Dorilona was recognized by colleagues for service to the department, college, and university in recruitment, publicity, educational grants, scholarships, and awards.  She was also particularly acknowledged for her role as co-founder of the Drexel Professional Women's Leadership Series, along with Joanne Ferroni, Senior Director of Recruitment and Strategic Development in the College of Engineering, to foster professional development and retention among the female staff at Drexel University.

This marks the third time a faculty or staff member from the department has received this award.  Prior award recipients include Professor Rick Knight (2008) and Academic and Financial Coordinator Judy Trachtman (2002).

The award, consisting of a certificate of recognition and $2000, will be presented at a Faculty Recognition Dinner on Wednesday, June 2 in Behrakis Grand Hall.  Dorilona will also be recognized at the College of Engineering commencement on June 11th.
