Assistant Professor Steven May has been awarded a grant from the Office of Naval Research for the project "Novel Mechanisms for Conductivity Modulation in Complex Oxide Heterostructures."  The budget for the three year project is $360,000.

The project aims to develop oxide materials that can be tuned between insulating and conducting states via small changes to their atomic structure.  The ability to switch between two stable electrical states through subtle structural modifications may provide a new means of operation for electronic and sensing devices.
