Ph.D. Candidate Babak Anasori Wins Three Prizes in the International Metallographic Contest

Ph.D. candidate Babak Anasori, along with several fellow students and faculty, has won three prizes in the 2011  International Metallographic Contest held by the  International Metallographic Society, an affiliate of  ASM International.

Anasori submitted entries to three out of the 11 different classes of competition and won in each submission category.  The awards are as follows:

  • Second place in Class 4 Electron Microscopy Scanning for the poster "Scanning Electron Microscopy of Two Dimensional Ti3C2 Layers" based on Michael Naguib's research by Babak Anasori, Michael Naguib, Yury Gogotsi, and Michel W. Barsoum
  • First place in "Class 9 Artistic Microscopy - Black and White Only" for the image "The cave" based on Michael Naguib's research by Babak Anasori, Michael Naguib, Yuri Gogotsi, and Michel W. Barsoum
  • First place in Class 11 Digital Microscopy Artistic for the image "MAX Dragon" by Babak Anasori and Michel W. Barsoum

The International Metallographic Society's International Metallographic Contest and Exhibit was held in conjunction with the society's 44th annual convention at the Microscopy and Microanalysis 2011 meeting in Nashville , Tennessee, August 7 - 11, 2011.
