City, Country where you are/were abroad

Saarbrücken, Germany

Reason that brought you abroad in the first place

Over the past three years of high school, I interned in several Drexel research laboratories, including the Natural Polymers and Photonics group. At the time, Dr. Atchison was perusing her Ph.D. there and graciously agreed to supervise my research. After graduating from high school this summer, Dr. Atchison and Dr. Rocheleau (from the office of undergraduate research), extended an invitation to participate in the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) program. I gladly accepted this offer and I am looking forward to actually taking classes at Drexel this fall.

Favorite place to go outside of work/the lab

Castles! I love the history, art, and engineering behind castles and Germany has quite a few nice ones.

Any other quote/information you want to add about being a Drexel Materials student/alum abroad

While I am still looking forward to taking my first class at Drexel this fall, Drexel’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, laboratories, resources, and research have changed my life. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us both.
